The cycle sportive is being organised to promote cycling and raise funds for two locally based charities. It is not a race or a competitive event and we will not be issuing timing chips so if you are up against the clock, we suggest you start near the front and set your garmin to time your moving and overall time. For the rest who are out to enjoy the day, the views and company of fellow cyclists we hope you enjoy the day.

We will shortly be revealing some more prizes kindly donated by our partner sponsors which will be awarded to the cyclists who have raised the most money for charity. Please start raising funds at EverydayHero. If you can't be bothered tapping up your friends (again) then why not just donate some funds to the charities? The funds will be split 50/50 between Mercy Corps and Cash for Kids, thanks!

One of the prizes is the original poster for the Flying Scotsman signed by both Graeme Obree and Douglas Mackinnon, the film Director. This is a unique memento of one of Scotland's aspirational cycling heroes who almost single-handedly took on the world of cycling and won!
